Frequently Asked Questions

  • Yes, we can meet virtually!

I am licensed in Florida and DC. You need to be physically in one of those two states when we meet.

  • Our first session will be 50 minutes.

I ask what brings you in, some history, what you want out of therapy. You can ask me anything.

No pressure to have a breakthrough. By session two or three, we'll check in on whether this is working.

  • Normal and welcomed.

I offer a free 15-minute consult before booking so we can feel it out first. If a few sessions in it's not clicking, I'll help you find someone better suited. No hard feelings, no sales pitch.

Fit matters more than anything else in this work.

  • No, you do not.

Plenty of my clients look fine on paper and are dealing with stress, ADHD overwhelm, life transitions, relationship patterns, or just trying to figure out who they actually are. You don't need to earn it.

If you are in crisis, please call or text 988.

  • LCSW in Florida, LICSW in DC.

You need to be physically in one of those two states when we meet virtually.

  • For most things like anxiety, ADHD, and depression, the research says yes, comparably effective. Sessions are over secure HIPAA-compliant video.

You'll need a private-ish space and a stable connection. A parked car with headphones absolutely counts.

  • I take Aetna, Cigna, UHC/Optum, BCBS, Anthem, Oscar/Oxford, Carelon, Quest, Kaiser Mid-Atlantic, and a long list of others. Want to be extra sure? Email me!

  • I provide superbills for out-of-network reimbursement.

Most PPO plans reimburse 50 to 80 percent after deductible.

  • $125 per 50-minute session for private pay. Through insurance, copays usually land in the $20 to $50 range depending on your plan. (sometimes $0!)

    HSA/FSA cards work.

  • Yes. ADHD work is partly throw-it-at-the-wall-and-see-what-sticks.

I have ADHD myself, and I have an armada of things: stuff that's worked for me, stuff that's worked for clients, and stuff backed by actual research.

  • Coaching isn't licensed or regulated -- anyone can call themselves an ADHD coach. I'm a licensed mental health provider who does the practical stuff too (tools, habits, accountability) plus the emotional perspective coaching doesn’t address.

Therapy is insurance-reimbursable and HIPAA-protected. Coaching is not.

  • Yes, based on a thorough conversation, your history, and standardized screening tools like the ASRS. That's enough for treatment, insurance billing, and most workplace accommodations.

Some situations (like high-stakes standardized testing or formal disability claims) require neuropsych testing instead, which is a different process I can refer you to.

  • Yes. For LGBTQ+ clients: I'm fluent enough in the landscape (transition, coming out, chosen family, polyamory, kink, religious deconstruction) that you don't have to start from scratch.

For neurodivergence: ADHD, autism, and AuDHD are differences to understand, not deficits to fix. A lot of my clients arrive having been told their whole life that they're lazy, dramatic, or "too much." We're not doing that here.

  • I lean on ACT and CBT for ADHD and anxiety, with Person-Centered Therapy and Motivational Interviewing running underneath everything. See my “About” page for more on each approach

  • 24 hours notice for cancellations. Late cancels and no-shows are $75.

Reminders go out by text and email.

One slip won't end the work. If it becomes a pattern we'll talk about it like we'd talk about anything else.
